Exam

1. a) Which project did you enjoy the most this semester? (1 mark) The project I enjoyed the most was either the Portfolio project, or the Ink board one (when we drew on the computer using a special board)

    b) What two things did you like about it? (2 marks) For the Portfolio, It was fun taking different pictures with my two friends (because that's just fun to do) with also looking formal about it (like being on a job for photography) And I had fun doing the modeling when they were taking pictures of me, it was kinda fun doing poses for a picture. For the Ink Board one, I've always wanted to use one of those boards for drawing so I was like finally, I could draw on the computer, and I love to draw anyways so I'm drawing on the computer.

2. a) Which project did you struggle with the most? (1 mark) The project I has the most issues with was the stop motion video.

    b) What two things were most difficult about it? (2 marks) The main issues i had with it was photo shopping the pole out of the scenes where there wasn't a pole in it, which caused me to be stressed out at times and worried about letting people down. Now the second difficult thing (which wasn't as bad but still annoying) was the characters were made out of clay and they did break sometimes before we shot, and the original wooden figure person was broken when I found it, which was a pain.

3. Name a skill you learned in media arts this semester and how you could use it in I can't really name one skill because I learnt a lot of skills that could be quite useful for later in life.
    a) Next school year:  (2 marks) I actually don't have any art classes next year but for English I could use the "Thinking Deeply" to help with some stuff in English. For some projects you have to say your P.O.V and continue on that.

    b) A future career: (2 marks) If I stick with what i want to do later in life (which is on the field of Arts or Entertainment) I could use many things that I have learnt from this class. For Example, making posters for a company, taking pictures for a company.

4. Choose one project that you didn’t do too well on. Write three things you could do to improve it. (3 marks) I feel like I could've done better with the most recent project (video game one) by doing more work on the picture (taking the picture myself) and even more photo shop with it (or better). Putting more detail in the background of the story itself (i was a little vague with it.) last but not lease maybe a little touch up on the logo.

5. Write about your experience working in a group.
It was interesting working in a group because for the group i was in for any group project they're my friends so I know them and wouldn't be worried about being awkward with people I didn't know. Yes, it could get slightly annoying at times but we worked well with each other.
a) What role did you play? Were you a leader, listener, creative director, technical expert, props manager? Were you the one that was always present in class and doing work outside of class? Were you the one that had difficult contributing? Write at least three points about how you worked in your groups. If you did not work in a group, write about why you did not and three points about why you chose to work alone. (3 marks) The role I played was the listener, actress (the one mainly in front of the camera) and the leader? (I could be a tad of a rusher and slightly bossy if someone wasn't working or if someone was off track). I was the one who is always present in class (unless sick days or trips) and I did most of my work in the classroom itself (other then the Stop motion project) Some parts i did have issues contributing due to I didn't know how to work the program.

    b) What was positive about the experience (group or alone)? (2 marks) The good things about working in a group is that if you didn't know how to do a certain thing too well someone else could help you or work on that certain area (Its the same thing the other way as well, if they didn't know how you could do it or help them) and it's nice working with the people you know.

    c) What was negative about the experience (group or alone)? (2 marks) Sometimes when you're in a group things can get hard with decisions, if you don't agree you're either going to have to find a compromise or figure something out. (it's harder when you have a group with your friends) and if one of your group members isn't really focus its like "you gotta get to work," or "come on lets get working."

6. Reflect on your time management in this course. Time management was pretty good, it could've been better at times but still pretty good.

a) If you had to give yourself a mark out of "10", what would that mark be, if 10/10 was using each minute of each class to the fullest and not wasting time? (2 marks) I would give myself a 7/10. I was normally on task but I would goof off at times. I didn't know how to work with one program (had troubles with it) so i would ask my partners to mainly work the one program. But over-all I seemed to be good with the work and I have a pretty good mark.

b) What strategies will you employ in the future to maximize your efficiency in getting assignments completed on time? (3 marks) If you're having trouble maybe ask how to do it or use it correctly, Try to focus more and not talk to your friends and possibly listen to music it helps with working at times.

Culminating Activity

VIDEO GAME IS THE ONE I'M DOING

Step #1: Brainstorm concepts for a new video game. Record 5-10 ideas on a page that you will submit.
  •          Something fantasy related (examples being skyrim, castle crushers?)
  •          Story related game (basically, it has more of a point and not just beat the game I guess? Not just fight, fight fight.)
  •          A fighting game (something on the line of Street Fighter, not really huge on gory games)
  •          FEMALE LEAD
  •          The main character being transgender (haven’t really seen or heard of that, well kind of)
  •          Plat-former (parkour in a video game to sum it up, example, Super Meat Boy)
  •           Possibly modern (in today’s day and age)

Step #2: Choose an idea from Step #1 and elaborate about the new game by answering the following questions:

a.    Give a summary of the game.
The main character, Yves (pronounced Eves)  is a princess in largest royal family there is. (this is dating back to the medieval times area) but at night, she is Yven (pronounced Even) A mercenary under a quiet group (literately known as The Quiets) . Yves works with her brother Joseph(III)  who is also a part of this mercenary group and the royal family. Yves lives a double life, but unfortunately those lives will have to cross. He father, King Joseph the second has a secret too, which is related and revealed during one of her missions. Yves is going to have
issues completin her mission/job. her father is pretty high
on the list of being dealt with, with a very high price (he is a slave owner, and The Quiets don't like the idea of owning someone else other then yourself, unless you have too) Yves mother on the other hand doesn't like the idea of Yves getting dirty and that, so she is normally trying to make Yves pretty and dolled up, and her brother thinks that funny as heck cause he knows about her night time persona.

b)   Is the game on the computer or a gaming system? On old school Nintendo etc.. This game would be on what they call the “Seventh generation” and up (Eighth generation) so basically the Xbox 360-Xbox One, PS3-PS4.

c.    Who is your target audience for this product? The target audience would be people who are interested in fantasy. Also teenagers because some scenes can be a little sensitive. (Possible hanging) but the main character has an axe as a weapon, so there’s action scenes with blood. So this game would be T for teen.

d.    How expensive is this product?  This product would be 40$ (39.99). The first few packages of the game has the main characters axe in a keychain.

e.    How is it different/more awesome than any other game? I feel like it’s more awesome because at certain parts there are choices that could affect what happens in the game, and it could affect the ending. Also I’m aiming to having the game historically correct or try my best too.

Names for the video game:

Axes and Attire

Princess Merc

The Tale of a Princess Mercenary

Slogans:

"Cutie by day, baddie by night."

"You'll be axing for this game."

"Even the princess has to have a good time."

Media Critique

.
1) What is the subject? [1] The subject matter is gun sense in america, and how one thing is banned and the other (umm more dangerous thing) isn't.

2. What is focal point? (Where do you look first?) [2] The first thing that caught my eye was the gun. There's a child holding a gun beside a child holding a kinder egg.

3. What is being said about the subject/ focal point? What is the message? [2] That it's okay to ban a kinder egg (which isn't really dangerous at all) but we shouldn't ban something that could easy hurt or possibly kill something. The message is that if you banned a kinder egg to protect a child you should definitely ban a assault gun.

4. Describe one element of design that stands out in your advertisement. [2] I feel like the thing that stands out is that a child is holding a gun! Not even a simple one like a pistol but a assault one. Its a shock value, because there is something which is considered innocent holding a very deadly weapon

5. Describe your eye movement. Where does your eye start? Where does it go next? [2] My eyes started at the middle with the two children, then it went to the top bar (the words) and then to the comment at the bottom.

6. Describe how contrast is used in your advertisement. (Look at things such as text size, colour, font, straight lines vs. curved lines, big shapes vs. small shapes, light vs. dark, geometric shapes vs. organic shapes). [2] This ad has a very serious tone to it with having very little "bright" colours. The words in the box (above the kids) are larger and capitalize letters, to pop out. The children are more brighten and stand out more, they're the main focus. The shapes are geometric (examples the blackboard).

7. Describe how your visual and textual elements are aligned in your advertisement. (Ex., right, left, centered, top, bottom, diagonal, close, far apart…) [2] Most of the pictures and words are centered or towards the right. Also the words are closer together.

8. Describe how repetition is used to create unity in your advertisement. [1] the repeat the point of being silly with banning the kinder egg and NOT the gun.

9. What is its apparent purpose? (ex., to inform, persuade, entertain, sell) [1] Its to inform and possibly persuade people.

10.Who is its target audience? (and how can you tell?) [2] The target audience is adults (parents mainly) and possibly the government. I can tell because in the corner the ad has the group "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America."  The ad also talks about child safety which i would think be towards parents or at least adults? and the government well they were the ones who banned Kinder eggs and not guns

11.What feelings and responses did the text evoke for you? (Why did you pick it?) [3] The main feeling was shock, cause there's child holding a gun! which its like holy crap. My response was "That was shocking" or "Wow" I picked it because A) I felt like i needed too and B) the shock value on this adM
